Director Stabbed Outside Library by Ex-wife
-- Library Journal, 08/11/2005
In a scene out of a Hollywood shocker, Daniel Weiss, director of the Fanwood Memorial Library, NJ, stumbled through the building’s doors with blood streaming from his throat on August 1. Horrified staff and patrons scrambled to his aid, calling police. After being rushed to a local hospital, Weiss, 53, revealed that he had been attacked by his ex-wife, who hid in his car.. Police quickly arrested Weiss’s former spouse, Rosemary Dunlap, at her home and charged her with attempted murder and possession of a lethal weapon. Police still have no motive, and friends and coworkers were puzzled, claiming that the two have been on friendly terms following their divorce six years ago, with both participating in the care of their son. Weiss, who is in stable condition following surgery, was scheduled to be remarried August 6, five days after the attack. The Courier News Online reported that Greg Young, a friend of the accused, said Dunlap told him she had suffered a recent concussion and claimed she was “still not right.” Young insisted that the attack “is not a jealous wife thing. She and [Weiss] had a cordial relationship…she told me she was happy he was getting remarried.”
