Wilson Expanding Internationally
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 5/15/2006
H.W. Wilson Co. is one of the print Goliaths that has moved comfortably into the online world with seeming ease through its WilsonWeb product and numerous electronic databases. LJ recently had some face time with Wilson sales and marketing VP Deborah Loeding and marketing director Eileen Sutter, who provided an update. The company is growing internationally, having solid footholds in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. To serve its new markets, the publisher is adding more international content, especially Spanish-language materials.
Carving humanities niche
Domestically, Loeding said Wilson is looking to “carve out niche areas in the humanities” and is hunting for full-text publishers to create partnerships. The company also will be launching WilsonWeb 2.7 this June, which features a new search history screen and a search builder. The new release also adds text labels and offers suggested subjects to help narrow searches, plus it has a customizable color interface and improved persistent URL format. Be sure to catch a demo at the upcoming American Library Association annual conference in New Orleans.
