Karen Hunter, Elsevier’s senior VP of strategy, is this year’s winner of the CSA/Ulrich’s Serials Librarianship Award for “distinguished contributions to serials.” Presented by the American Library Association’s Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS), the award consists of a citation and $1500. CSA/Ulrich’s Award chair Marilyn Geller said Hunter was selected because of her “profound and positive influence within our industry. She has spent her career pushing [us] to the next level by engaging both librarians and the publishing community.” Hunter spearheaded Elsevier’s work with the Portico electronic archiving service, the University Licensing Program (TULIP), and Yale University Library on a Mellon-funded Archiving Electronic Journals project.
