Satanic Parenting: An A-to-Z Guide

-- Library Journal, 4/1/2006

Karloff, Karl K. Satanic Parenting: An A-to-Z Guide. Lucifer. Oct. 2002. c336p. illus. biblio. ISBN 0-312-30174-X. $27.95.CHILD REARING

Karloff (otherworld and underworld studies, Hellenic Univ.; Saints and Sinners: The Pros & Cons) provides here a detailed approach to a Satanic upbringing for children, though the devil is in the details. He begins with the assumption that there are three kinds of kids: bad, good, and in between (little room for gray in this Trinitarian approach). Those wishing to do their parenting according to Satanic principles must learn to distinguish among the three types. If your spawn is a good girl, then Karloff applies his First Rule of Satanic Satiety: give the kid whatever she wants. For bad boys, Karloff advises Spare the Rod and Spook the Child. For those kids who fall somewhere in between, the author has remarkably little to offer. Parents will find a more nuanced approach in Sultana Witcherly’s Satan’s Little Helpers. This Satanic primer is recommended mainly for parents who have closed their minds to reasonable suggestions.—Daniel Webster, Devil’s Canyon, UT
