Nancy Bolt is the winner of the 2005 Career Achievement Award from the Colorado Association of Libraries. A member of the Council of the American Library Association, Bolt retired from her post as Colorado State Librarian last year. She was instrumental in creating the statewide Colorado Library Card program to allow reciprocal borrowing from all the state’s public libraries.
Izabela Ciesynski, Director of Libraries and Information Services for the City of Newport News, VA, has been named Acting Assistant City Manager to oversee libraries, social services, youth development, and juvenile services. Since 1983, she has been Assistant City Librarian, Library Administrator, and Director.
Janice Lachance, former Executive Director of SLA (Special Libraries Association), is now the organization’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “Having a CEO as the top staff executive for SLA means that doors may often open more easily for us,” said SLA president Pam Rollo.
Jody Lohman, formerly General Research Supervisor at the High Point Public Library, NC, has joined High Point University as Media Services ­Librarian.
Georgia Lomax, a Manager in the King County Library System, Issaquah, WA, for the last 12 years, is the new Deputy Director of Pierce County Library System in Tacoma. She replaces Diane Thompson, who retired in 2005 after 37 years of service.
Larry Neal has been promoted to Director of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library (CMPL), Clinton Township, MI, replacing Christine Lind Hage, who became Director of the Rochester Hills Public Library, MI. Neal, at CMPL for 23 years, was Assistant Director.
Katherine Reagan is the Ernest L. Stern ’56 Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts, Cornell University Library, Ithaca, NY, for the next five years. She was named Curator of Rare Books in Cornell’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections in 2000.
Sandy Sweitzer, Development Officer for the Durham County Library, NC, has received the County Anchor Award for superior service. She launched the library’s Foundation Annual Fund, established the Humanities Advisory Council, helped create the first-ever community reading program, and helped secure a $500,000 National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant.
Elaine Terman, former Communications Manager of the Cleveland Area Metropolitan Library System, Shaker Heights, OH, is now Public Relations Manager for the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library, Willowick, OH.
