Readex Expands Newspaper Series
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 2/15/2006
Digital publisher Readex is growing its Early American Newspapers offerings with the addition of two new collections. Early American Newspapers II, 1758–1900, covers an era when “the number of American newspapers rose dramatically, transformed by an increasing emphasis on local society, industry, scientific and technological advances, crime, investigative journalism, and stories of human interest,” said the publisher. Early American Newspapers III, 1829–1922 “reflect[s] the further growth of newspapers in number and size following the formation of the Associated Press, during and after the Civil War, and throughout the period of westward expansion.” The fully searchable databases cover 350 publications representing all 50 states.
