Minneapolis Public Library Reaches Fundraising Goal
-- Library Journal, 11/16/2005
Private fundraising was a new challenge for the Minneapolis Public Library under director Kit Hadley, but it appears to have been met. As the Star-Tribune reported, the library's Friends group has raised the $15 million for a new Central Library, and two months ahead of time. Six gifts of $1 million, from families and foundations, will be acknowledged in parts of the building. For example, the second-floor art gallery will be called Cargill Hall for the Cargill Foundation and the teen center will be named for the Emma B. Howe Foundation. The library is expected to open in May 2006.
