SirsiDynix Scores Four in the UK

By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 11/1/2005

SirsiDynix is on a tear in the UK, nailing down four new installations in a variety of libraries. In the academic arena, the University of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, is migrating from its current Horizon solution to the vendor's new Corinthian system. The university sports a collection of 400,000 volumes. Northumbria University, Newcastle on Tyne, has opted for the company's Horizon Consolidated Searching and Horizon Link Resolver for its resource and discovery portal needs.

SirsiDynix also is the choice of the nation's National Meteorological Library and Archive, which has signed for the Hyperion Digital Media Archive to add to its Unicorn system. The system will be used to “showcase our unique collection of more than 3000 images illustrating all aspects of weather and climate,” assistant librarian Martin Kidds said. The Hyperion system will be installed under the HP-UX operating system on the library's HP server. Additionally, the HSE Eastern Region also has embraced the Hyperion Digital Media Archive as an add-on to its Unicorn system. At HSE, the Hyperion tool will be installed on a Windows server.
