CrÃticas Revives on the Web

Críticas, the only U.S. magazine in English devoted to the Spanish-language publishing market, has launched a new and improved web site, and a twice-monthly newsletter, Críticas Connection (monthly until November). "Reed Business Information is pleased to continue serving the Hispanic book publishing community by building upon the Críticas print brand of the past with an eye toward the future," noted William McGorry, executive VP, Publishing Group.
The new site will be updated monthly and offers, among other features, a searchable review database, full access to the Críticas Spanish-Language Publishing Marketplace Directory, the hottest industry news, and monthly best sellers lists for adult fiction and nonfiction, video, and audio. Both the web site and newsletter are free, with no registration required. Baker & Taylor has signed on as an initial sponsor to the site, offering librarians the option of ordering Spanish-language titles reviewed in Críticas directly through the site. Two print issues a year—one due out in June for distribution at the BookExpo America and American Library Association conferences and one in November for the Guadalajara Book Fair—will complement the e-publications. The issues will be distributed as a supplement to Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal, whose editors created the magazine in 2001.
