A trio of librarians, who also possess vast technical and business knowledge as seasoned veterans of the ILS vendor arena, have formed a new library and information industry consulting firm called Monte Sano Associates (www.montesanoassociates.com), Huntsville, AL. Headed by founder and president Patricia Kuhn, VP Mark Moorehead, and VP Charles Farley, "the goal of the group," said Kuhn, "is to provide an experienced resource that addresses issues of strategic concern to senior management of libraries and information industry enterprises." Monte Sano will offer assistance with both short- and long-term projects, primarily involving complex technical and organizational issues.
Kuhn, who holds an MLS from Syracuse University, NY, has held positions at Kansas State University, University of Texas–El Paso, and Boston Public Library. She also has experience at Gaylord Information Systems, Ameritech Library Services, and Sirsi Corp. Moorehead, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Alabama, where he received his MLS, worked for Sirsi for a decade in a variety of posts. Farley earned his MLS from Western Michigan University before serving in positions at the public libraries of Kansas City, MO, El Paso, TX, and Dorchester County, SC, then moved to the vendor side with CLSI, Gaylord, Geac, and Sirsi.
