9/11 Project Debuts
By Staff -- Library Journal, 8/15/2004
A group of academic and public librarians and others have banded together for the September Project, which calls upon libraries and other public facilities to open their doors as a public meeting place for the full 24 hours of September 11. The goal, says the group, is to "share and discuss your ideas about democracy, citizenship, and patriotism." The group is encouraging this year's participants to read and discuss the Bill of Rights. The September Project is funded by the University of Washington's (UW) Walter Chapin Simpson Center for the Humanities, UW's Dean's Office of the College of Arts and Sciences, Humanities Washington, and Washington Medical Librarians Association (see www.theseptemberproject.org).
