Wendy Bethune is the new Manager, Sanger Branch Library, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. She has been working at the library since 1998.

Eric Glass is now Serials Librarian, Arthur Diamond Law Library, Columbia University Libraries (CUL), New York. He holds an MLIS with a specialization in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. Emily Holmes is the new Assistant Director for Preservation Reformatting & Digitization, Preservation Division at CUL. She was Assistant Preservation Librarian in Collection & Research Services, New York University Libraries. Jean Laponce is now Western European & Philosophy Librarian, Humanites & History Division. He was Instructor at the Foundations Program, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and the Department of Liberal Studies, Western Washington University, Bellingham.

Frank Hemphill, Director, Branch District Library System, Coldwater, MI, is retiring again, effective December 31, after coming out of retirement in 2002 to take the position.

Theresa Maguire has been appointed Chief Deputy County Librarian, County of Los Angeles Public Library. She had served as City Librarian, Pasadena, for the past six years.

John Richard has retired as Director, East Baton Rouge Parish Library System, LA. He had been Director there since 1977.

Barb Sanford has retired as PR & Marketing Coordinator, South Central Library System, Madison, WI, after 16 years of service.

Janice Simmons-Welburn has been appointed Associate Dean, University of Arizona Libraries, Tucson, leaving her position as Director, Central Public Services & Facilities, University of Iowa Libraries, Iowa City.

David Snider has retired as City Librarian, Casa Grande, AZ. He was Director, City of Casa Grande Public Library, since 1977.

Kay Wall has been appointed University Librarian, University of Southern Mississippi Libraries, Hattiesburg, after serving more than 20 years at the libraries.

Obituaries

Elizabeth Parkinson Hoffman, retired Director (1975–91), Haverford Township Free Library, PA, died on July 16 at the age of 82.

Donald F. Webster, retired Director of College Libraries (1973–95), State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry, Syracuse, died on July 30.

Elizabeth Ellen Winkelmann Morrissett died on July 19 at the age of 92 after a 59-year career in librarianship.
