Cleveland PL Chooses Sirsi

Self-proclaimed "People's University" contracts for Unicorn, Web2

By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 9/1/2003

The Cleveland Public Library (CPL), which calls itself the "People's University," has contracted with Sirsi Corporation to upgrade its automation abilities throughout its main facility and 28 branches. The agreement calls for the installation of the vendor's signature Unicorn Library Management System; the Web2 e-Library solution; Hyperion Digital Media Archive for handling nonbook holdings in digital format such as photos, video clips, scanned documents images, etc.; and the Voice Automation Telephone Notification System for telephone renewal and reserves.

Sirsi also is adding the St. Joseph Public Library, MO, to its list of customers. The library has signed for the installation of the vendor's Unicorn ILS and iBistro e-Library solution, which will provide patrons with 24/7 access to the library's holdings. The St. Joseph system consists of four branches serving more than 48,000 users who borrow approximately 265,000 items annually.
