Elizabeth Aversa, Past President of the Association for Library and Information Science Education, has been appointed Director, University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies, Tuscaloosa. She was Director, University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences (SIS), Knoxville. Douglas Raber, Associate Professor at SIS, has stepped up to become Interim Director.
Jennifer Dell is now Communications Coordinator, Columbia University Libraries and Information Services, New York. She most recently served as a Communications Officer, Ministry of Finance, Government of British Columbia, Victoria.
Sarah Flowers is now Deputy Librarian, Santa Clara County Library System, San Jose, CA. She was Acting Deputy Librarian since March 1. Flowers is an LJ 2002 Mover & Shaker.
Agnes Griffen, Past President of the Public Library Association (1981–82), has retired from the Tucson-Pima Public Library, AZ, where she was Director since 1997.
Kathy Kennedy-Brunner is now Manager, Madeira Branch, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County (PLCHC). She has been with the system since 1991. Lisa Ribar has been appointed Manager, Bond Hill Branch, PLCHC. She has been with the system since 1992.
Jean Strouse, author and biographer (Morgan, American Financier; Alice James), has been appointed the Sue Ann and John Weinberg Director of the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers, New York Public Library. She succeeds Peter Gray, who will retire this summer.
Gina Price White was promoted to Director of Archives and Special Collections, Dacus Library, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC. She has been with the library since 1986.
Herbert S. White, retired Professor and Dean Emeritus, Indiana University School of Library and Information Science, Bloomington, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters by Indiana University. White is well known as the 15-year columnist of LJ's White Papers.
ObituariesCunagunda Pontez deLasso-Morgan, retired Librarian, Fenton Art and Glass Company Museum Library and Learning Center, Williamstown, WV, died May 2 at the age of 93. Her career in librarianship spanned 70 years.
Leslie Troutman, former Associate Professor and Librarian, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Music Library, died in May after a long illness. She had been with the library since 1987.
