VTLS Scores More RFID Contracts

Allentown biz school/Atlantic Builders Group latest cutomers

by Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 7/15/2003

VTLS is making further headway with its RFID Solution. The Allentown Business School Library, PA, and the Atlantic Builders Group on behalf of the Harford County Public Library, MD, have contracted with the vendor for the installation of the radio frequency identification (RFID) system. According to VTLS, the push to implement an RFID solution is part of the larger service goal for Harford County residents "to use the public library as their first information source, anytime, anywhere."

The Harford contract includes seven staff circulation stations, one patron self-check station, two sets of security gates, and four return chute systems. In addition, 70,000 tags and 2000 CD/DVD tags were purchased. The Allentown Business School Library reportedly "will use a full range of RFID products," the vendor said.
