Historical Newspapers and Digital National Security Archive enlarged

Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 7/15/2003

ProQuest has added a 110-year digital archive of the Washington Post to its Historical Newspapers database. The archive covers each page of the newspaper from 1877 to 1987 in PDF files. Full text of the publication from 1988 forward also is available as ASCII files.

Additionally, ProQuest has beefed up its Digital National Security Archive with five new collections: China and the United States: From Hostility to Engagement, 1980–1994; El Salvador: War, Peace, and Human Rights, 1980–1994; Japan and the United States: Diplomatic, Security, and Economic Relations, 1960–1976; U.S. Espionage and Intelligence, 1947–1996; and U.S. Nuclear History: Nuclear Arms and Politics in the Missile Age, 1955–1968. Each consists of declassified documents made available through the Freedom of Information Act.
