Cesar Caballero has been appointed Associate University Librarian, John F. Kennedy Memorial Library, California State University, Los Angeles. He was Associate University Librarian for Public Services, University of Texas at El Paso Library.

Susan Delmas has been hired as Director, Tarpon Springs Library, FL. She was Director, William Basin Regional Library, Decatur, AL.

Sonja Garcia, retired Associate Library Director, University of South Florida, Tampa Campus Library, has been appointed to the University of South Florida's Board of Trustees, making her the first African American woman on the 12-member board. Tomaro Taylor has been named the first Henrietta M. Smith Resident, University of South Florida, Tampa Campus Library, effective until 2005. She recently received her MLS from the University of South Florida.

Steve Hussman has been appointed Head of Archives and Special Collections, New Mexico State University Library, Las Cruces. Norice Lee has been appointed Head, New Mexico State University Library Access Services. Mardi Mahaffy has been appointed the new Humanities Librarian. Angela Murrell has been appointed the new Sciences Librarian.

Amos A. Lakos has been appointed Head of the Reference and Instructional Services Department, University of California, Los Angeles. Lakos was Senior Liaison Librarian, Information Services and Resources, Dana Porter Library, University of Waterloo, Ont.

Joanne Gard Marshall, Professor and Dean, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been elected President-elect, Medical Library Association, for 2003 to 2004. She will serve as President from 2004 to 2005.

William D. Paullin has been appointed Director, Atlantic County Library System, Mays Landing, NJ, following the retirement of Alyce J. Bowers. Paullin, Assistant Library Director of the system since 1985, will be replaced by Karen L. George. George returns to the library, having worked there from 1978 to 1985.

Laurie L. Thompson is now Director, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Library, Dallas. She was Director, State University of New York Upstate Medical University Libraries, Syracuse.

Mildred Bruder Buchanan, retired Public Relations Director, Chicago Public Library System, died on April 11 at the age of 98. She had worked in the system for 45 years.

Anne M. Buck, University Librarian, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, since 1995, died on April 2 at the age of 63.
