Government patent agency contracts for Unicorn
by Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 2/15/2003
Intellectual Property (IP) Australia, that country's federal agency responsible for granting rights in patents, trademarks, and designs, has contracted with Sirsi for the installation of a Unicorn system in its National Office Library. According to the vendor, the library provides "information services for nearly 842 staff members throughout Australia and boasts over 80 local collections." The library offers services such as rights requests updates, newspaper clippings, journals, nonpatent literature, database searching for trademarks examination, and more. Ruth Mackay, IP Australia's general manager of customer services, said the conversion to the new system from its current solution already has commenced and that the library would go live with Unicorn this year.
