TLC Adds More School Content

Deal with Syndetics improves School/Library·Solution

by Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 8/15/2002

The Library Corporation (TLC) has increased the content included in its School/Library·Solution product thanks to a revised agreement with Syndetic Solutions. The vendor said that its previous deal with Syndetic included content only for its Library·Solution product, but under the new arrangement those materials also will be available via the school version. School libraries using the product now will be able to include items on their online catalog such as book covers, tables of contents, summaries, annotations, biography profiles, series information, first chapters and excerpts, reviews from Library Journal, School Library Journal, and Publishers Weekly, and author notes.

TLC's marketing chief Gary Kirk also told LJ that the company is taking over the distribution of Surpass Software to offer a distributed school automation solution to school districts not interested in centralized automation.
