InfoTech People-GIS Names Wagner Business VP
Will push to partner with third parties for extra products

Gaylord Information Services (GIS) is looking to expand its offerings further through partnerships for third-party products. To that end, the company has promoted Anita Wagner to the position of vice president, Business Development. As such, the vendor said she will take the lead in "negotiating with potential partners to integrate their software into the Polaris library automation system." During the past year, GIS has partnered with other library firms such as Baker & Taylor, Blackwell's, Brodart, BWI, Ingram, OCLC, Web Feet, and Syndetic Solutions as well as MSNBC and others to create a growing suite of products and services. The company has been especially aggressive in strengthening its self-check systems, EDI, ILL, web site selection, enriched content, materials recovery, and thin-client solutions.
Wagner is a four-year veteran of the company, having served in several senior executive positions; she was paramount in developing the Polaris Product Management unit. Before joining the vendor world, she was the assistant director of Philadelphia's Health Sciences Library Consortium.
Gale names Pastorius CIOGale has named Edward Pastorius executive VP and CIO responsible for operations, corporate services, and technology areas. Pastorius joined the company in 1998 as the director of corporate planning and analysis. He came to Gale from jobs at several corporations after founding his own firm, which conducted civil and commercial investigations and litigation support for large corporations and law offices.
Smith et al. join Ex LibrisEx Libris (USA) has announced a plethora of new hires in librarian positions at its various offices. Ya'aqov Ziso joins the Chicago office as customer support librarian. Ziso will assist Ex Libris customers on large multiuser UNIX systems as well as provide advanced applications training. He has several years' experience in projects and quality control in Ex Libris (Israel).
Candice Sterckx joins the Boston office as an SFX librarian, where she will provide training and support for SFX administrators on the tools available for local configuration of an SFX server, both during and after product implementation. Sterckx holds a Master of Library Science degree from Simmons College. Karen Groves also joins the Boston office as a MetaLib librarian. Groves holds degrees in Library and Information Science and in Engineering.
Dennis Sage joins the Chicago office as the manager of Conversion Services. He has extensive experience with programming and libraries and library data, including jobs at OCLC and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Roger Mikos comes to the Chicago office as an implementation programmer.
Lastly, Stan Smith, a well-known face in library automation, will be an Ex Libris sales support librarian. Smith brings extensive experience in library software, having previously worked for more than five years at epixtech.
