Installations: Queensland State Goes Endeavor
Voyager system to be hub for hundreds of Australian libraries
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 6/15/2002
The State Library of Queensland (SLQ), Australia, has selected Endeavor's Voyager as its automation solution, replacing a homemade system developed more than 20 years ago. According to the vendor, the new Voyager-based automated catalog forms part of SLQ's Information Portal Eclectus and is accessible at the library in South Brisbane and to all remote users over the web. SLQ is the main public research library in Queensland, with a collection of more than 1.2 million titles. The facility also is responsible for providing collection materials to 156 public libraries in communities with populations under 20,000, as well as an extensive ILL service to more than 320 additional facilities. Future development of Eclectus includes the implementation of the vendor's ENCompass product, statewide remote access to electronic databases, and the digitization of selected historical images.
