Betty Boulware has been named Chief, Neighborhood Services Division, Enoch Pratt Free Library (EPFL), Baltimore. She was District Supervisor, Northwest District Library, EPFL. Other appointments at EPFL include Patricia Costello, now Assistant Chief, Neighborhood Services Division. She was Branch Manager, Patterson Park Branch. Jacquelyn Purnell has been named Assistant Chief, Neighborhood Services Division. She was District Supervisor, Southeast District Library. Ann Smith has been appointed Chief, Information Access Division. She was District Supervisor, Northeast District Library.

Mary Louise Daneri has been named Assistant Director for Public Service, San Antonio Public Library (SAPL). She was Manager of three branch libraries in the Baltimore County Public Library system. Aubrey George is now Assistant Director for Support Services, SAPL. She was Director, Spokane Public Library.

Pam Hickson-Stevenson has been named Director, Portage County District Library (PCDL), OH. She was Director, Wayne County Public Library, Garrettsville, OH. Cecilia Swanson is now Assistant Director, PCDL. She was a Branch Manager.

Yvonne Hilliard-Bradley has been appointed Acting Director, Norfolk Public Library (NPL), VA. She was Library Public Service Administrator, NPL.

Sheryl Knox has been appointed System Specialist, Capital Area District Library, Lansing, MI. She was Owner and Chief Information Architect, Clarus Information Architects, Ann Arbor, MI.

Monte L. Steiger has retired as Associate Dean at the University of Idaho (UI) Library, Moscow. Steiger began and administered through correspondence UI's library science program, which now has 15 courses.

OBITUARIES

James Patrick Riley, retired Executive Director of the Library of Congress's Federal Library and Information Center Committee, Washington, DC, died February 15. He was 75. After leaving LC, Riley was Librarian, John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, Dominican College Library, Washington, DC, until 2000.

Claire E. Schumacher, retired Librarian for the New York Public Library, died February 17. She was 83.

William Tansill, retired Assistant Chief of the History and Government Division, Library of Congress (LC), Washington, DC, died February 22. He was 86. Tansill retired in 1978 after 44 years at LC.

Ann J. Thompson, retired Librarian for the Chicago Public Library, died February 27. She was 87.
