Staff -- Library Journal, 3/8/1999

The National Film Preservation Foundation has received a $500,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to preserve 45 films from library archives throughout the country. Foundation Chair Roger Mayer told the press the grant "is an attempt to make film preservation a national initiative." The 45 films selected for refurbishing are housed in the collections of such facilities as the University of Alaska, The Minnesota Historical Society, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, and UCLA's Film and Television Archive.
