Scottish Library Worker Dismissed After Thefts
Staff -- Library Journal, 3/8/1999
A clerical assistant at Edinburgh's Central Library was dismissed after more than L33,500 was stolen over 13 months, reported the March 3 Scottish Daily Record. The clerk, who was not named, was responsible for logging the bags of money containing income from fines and the loan of audio tapes, and also for transferring the bags to the bank. Library officials were criticized by city councillors for not monitoring the situation more closely.
