USC's Thomas Cooper Library Receives $1 Million Gift

A $1 million gift from C. Warren Irvin Jr., and his wife Josephine Brown Irvin has been given to the University of South Carolina's (USC) Thomas Cooper Library, Columbia. Irvin, a retired cardiologist, hasn't yet specified how the money is to be spent. He previously donated a collection of Charles Darwin books and research materials to the library in 1997 and contributed $25,000 to create an endowment to develop and maintain the collection.
