Ottawa May Sell Main Library Building

Staff -- Library Journal, 2/22/1999

The city of Ottawa has moved toward negotiations that could lead to the sale of the city's main library building for about $8 million. Cadillac Fairview Corp. wants to buy the library building and expand it into an office tower, reports the Ottawa Citizen. After the sale, the city would lease back the building for 10 years to operate the library, and could renew the lease. City officials also have requested a business plan for a new central library.
