Mormons Place Books in 15,000 Libraries
Staff -- Library Journal, 2/22/1999
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), finding that many public and university libraries ignore them -- or provide inaccurate or anti-Mormon information -- has placed packets of books in 15,000 libraries throughout the United States and Canada, reports the Desert News of Salt Lake City. In a pilot project in the first four cities, librarians were found usually willing to accept scholarly, academic, historical, and reference publications but rejected items that seemed promotional or proselytizing.
