Ohio Library Joins B&T Overcharge Suit
Staff -- Library Journal, 1/18/1999
Trustees of the Akron-Summit County Public Library, OH, voted January 7 to join the seemingly ever-growing lawsuit against book retailer Baker & Taylor (B&T). A federal analysis of B&T's account with libraries throughout the state revealed that the book jobber overcharged customers as much as $3.1 million between 1989 and 1995. The Akron-Summit County facility is currently supplying the attorney general's office with invoices to calculate the exact amount of the overcharging. Several Ohio libraries are already part of the lawsuit, with several more, including the Medina County District Library, the Lorain Public Library, and the Mentor PL investigating possible overcharging.
