Rural Area Finally Gets Library
Staff -- Library Journal, 1/29/2001
Thirteen years after a fund drive began, the Georges Creek Regional Library, Lonaconing, MD, is finally opening -- the area's first library in 58 years, according to the Associated Press. Residents raised $150,000 in private donations and got $400,000 from both the state and Allegany County. It will serve about 5000 residents as part of the Allegany County Library System.
