LC Gets New Digital Funds
Staff -- Library Journal, 1/22/2001
The Library of Congress, in its budget for FY 2001, gained an additional $25 million to develop and execute a National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program. Also, over the next two years, Congress will match private funds raised, up to $75 million for the project. LC's Laura Campbell said the library's five-year plan includes content (digitization, plus collection of digital material), technical infrastructure (developing standards), and access (exemplified by the Collaborative Digital Reference Service). She said a formal plan will be presented to Congress in October or November.
