DeSoto County Receives $1.4 million for Library Upgrade

DeSoto County, MS, has received $1.4 million in grants that will be applied toward expanding several area libraries. The total will be divided into three parts with the First Regional Library, Hernando, receiving $500,000 ($300,000 for new construction/$200,000 for renovation); the Olive Branch Library will also receive $500,000, which will be spent in an identical manner, while the remainder of the money will be used to construct a new library in Southaven. The county Board of Supervisors will front $3 million in matching funds.
