Martha Gould Named NCLIS Chair

Following the death of Chair Jeanne Hurley Simon, the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) announced that President Clinton has designated former Vice Chair Martha B. Gould as Chair. The retired director of the Washoe County Library, NV, Gould was appointed to NCLIS in 1993 and was reappointed to a five-year term in 1998. Upon being named Chair, Gould designated Joan R. Challinor, Ph.D., of Washington, DC as Vice Chair.
