Michigan Filter Activists Move Fight to Birmingham
Staff -- Library Journal, 2/28/2000
The American Family Association of Michigan, which had been pushing the referenda on filtering in Hudsonville and Holland, has moved on to Birmingham and its Baldwin Memorial Library. After a man was arrested for looking at child pornography at the library, which uses privacy screens but no filters, the group urged the library to filter all but one terminal or face a similar referendum. Library Director Leslie Kee told the Oakland Press that she considers it an isolated incident.
