Central Arkansas Library System Attendance Rising

Staff -- Library Journal, 1/17/2000

Usage of the Central Arkansas Library System's ten facilities has increased dramatically in the last five years. According to Associate Director Bob Razer, attendance in 1999 was 1,041,584, a nearly 50 percent increase over 1994's total of 695,329. Circulation also climbed by 42 percent: from 865,135 in 1994 to 1,230,230 in 1999. The library credits the rise as a direct result of a 1993 millage increase, which funded the remodeling of existing libraries and the construction of a new branch. The extra money also buttressed the system's book and AV collections as well as allowing it to purchase 150 computers and offer Internet access.
