Freedman Succeeds Scilken as Chief of "The U*N*A*B*A*S*H*E*D Librarian"
Staff -- Library Journal, 1/10/2000
Mitch Freedman, director of the Westchester Library System, NY, has been tapped to succeed the late Marvin Scilken as publisher and editor-in-chief of The U*N*A*B*A*S*H*E*D Librarian. In announcing the post, Freedman ensured that "those faithful readers of The U*N*A*B*A*S*H*E*D Librarian will continue to find the practical, informative, amusing, inspiring, and useful information that makes The U*N*A*B*A*S*H*E*D Librarian such a valuable and unique publication." Freedman's daughter, Jenna, will be editor, while Sandy Berman, Bernadine Hoduski, and Carole Leita have agreed to be regular contributors along with other as-yet-unnamed leaders of the field who will join the publication's newly formed Board of Contributing Editors. Following Scilken's death in 1999, the publication has been run by his widow, Polly, who urges the library community "to give Mitch the loyal support they gave to Marvin." The transfer will be completed in February.
