Andrew Hamm has been appointed Library Director of the West Islip Public Library, NY. Hamm was Director, Babylon Public Library, NY.
Kathleen Imhoff has been named Director of Bond Issue Implementation, Broward County Library System (BCLS), Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Imhoff was Assistant Director, BCLS.
Sharon Karmazin retired Dec. 31, 1999 after 31 years of library service at the East Brunswick Public Library, NJ.
Eileen Longsworth has been named Director of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Public Library, NM. She was Director of the Salt Lake County Library.
Nancy Pack has been named Director of the Tuscaloosa Public Library, AL. Pack was the Base Librarian at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, GA.
Tim Pyatt has been appointed Curator of Manuscripts and Director of the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Cynthia Shelton, formerly Head, Bibliographers Group, University of California, Los Angeles, is now Associate University Librarian for Collections and Technical Services, UCLA.
Stephen Stratton has been appointed Social and Behavioral Sciences Librarian at James Branch Cabell Library of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond. He was Health Sciences Librarian at Tompkins-McCaw Library, Medical College of Virginia Campus, VCU.
Lilita Stripnieks has been appointed CEO of St. Catharines Public Library System, Ont. She was the Strategic Development Manager for the City of Vaughan Libraries, Ont.
Daniel W. Walsh has been named Manager, Systems Support for Schools and Libraries Division, Universal Service Administrative Co., Washington, DC.
OBITUARIES
Marjorie Bradfield, the first professional black librarian hired by the Detroit Public Library in 1937, died recently at the age of 88. Bradfield was also a Librarian in the Detroit Public School system from 1968 to 1980.
Anne Marie Kellner Geisel, Director of the Peterborough Town Library, NH, died October 8, 1999. She had worked at the library since 1975.
Ann McCormick, a former Librarian with the Cleveland Public Library, died in the crash of Egypt Air Flight 900 on October 31, 1999. McCormick had worked at Cleveland Public Library for 35 years and retired in 1990 as a Librarian in the Science and Technology Department. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
