George S. Bobinski will end a 29-year tenure as Dean of the School of Information and Library Studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo this summer. After a one-year research leave, he will rejoin the faculty as Professor. Vickie Chiapetti has been named Director of the Frank Weyenberg Library, Mequon-Thiensville, WI. She formerly was Business and Science Librarian at the Milwaukee Public Library. Lawrence Frank is now Director of the Onondaga County Public Library System, Syracuse, NY. Frank previously directed the St. Clair County Public Library System, MI. Linda Harris has been named Director of the Missouri State Library (MSL) Government Services Division, succeeding retiring Frank Pascoe. She previously was Library Administration consultant. Kate Graf, appointed Federal Documents Librarian, previously was Reference Librarian. Karen Jones is MSL's new Literacy Consultant. Carl Wingo is MSL's Consultant for Technology and Bibliographic Services. Jennifer Haire has been named Manager of the Towson Area branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. She had managed the North Point branch. Brett Lear has been named Manager of the Arvada Branch of the Jefferson County Public Library, CO. Previously he was Head of Reference and Adult services at the Villa Branch. Virginia McKee has been appointed Youth Services Coordinator of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP). She served in a similar position at Providence Public Library. Jim Lutton has been named Manager of The Foundation Center, a unit of CLP and affiliated with the national unit in New York City. Lutton, at CLP for 25 years, most recently headed bookmobile service. Bruce Massis, formerly Division Manager, Brooklyn Public Library, is now Director, Hoboken Public Library, NJ. David Melillo has been appointed State Law Librarian, Arizona Department of Library, Archives and Public Records, Phoenix, and will direct the State Law Library Division. He joined the Department last May as Associate Law Librarian. Chris Pasco-Pranger and Carol Payne have been named Reference Librarians in the main library of the Tacoma Public Library. Payne was a substitute Reference Librarian for the Pierce County Library District, WA, and Pasco-Pranger was Adult Services Librarian for the Brighton District Library, MI. Barbara Pearson has been named Director at Burbank Public Library, CA, filling the vacancy left by retiring Sandra Christopher. For the past 10 years, Pearson was Director at El Segundo Public Library, CA. Douglas Roesemann has joined the Faxon Company, Inc. as National Sales Manager for the academic and research library communities. Tony Siciliano has been named Coordinator of Technical and Computer Services for the Des Plaines Public Library, IL. He was Assistant to the Director of Northbrook Public Library, IL, supervising automation and special projects. Karen Wallace is the new Head of Community Services. She was previously Outreach Librarian at Park Ridge Public Library, IL. Susan Stearns has been appointed Director of Enterprise Marketing at Northern Light Technology LLC, the Internet-based research engine. Stearns, a librarian, has worked in marketing at CLSI, Faxon Research Services, and Gaylord Information Systems. Lamar Veatch, Director of the Irving Public Library System, TX, since 1982, has been named Director of the Alabama Public Library Service, which administers federal and state funds for state public libraries. Roberta Zonghi, a 25-year veteran of Boston Public Library, has been promoted to the Keeper of Rare Books and Manuscripts. OBITUARIES Lucile Gray died recently at the age of 93. Gray served as Librarian for Western New Mexico University and Silver City Public Library, NM, and was President of the New Mexico Library Association in 1938. Lillian Morgan Spector, a 26-year veteran of the University City Public Library, MO, died recently at the age of 75. Spector retired in 1988 as a Technical Services Librarian.
