Sir Paul Penning Poetry
Staff -- Library Journal, 1/15/2001
Aging rocker Sir Paul McCartney is proving how versatile his talents truly are. After having recently released a collection of his artwork called Paintings (Bulfinch), McCartney has revealed his intentions to publish a volume of poetry titled Blackbird Singing. The book, which will be marketed by Faber & Faber, will include song lyrics as well as more than a dozen poems written before and after the 1998 death of his long-time wife, photographer Linda Eastman, of complications from breast cancer. It also seems that even the gyrating hips of teenybopper video stars such as Britney Spears and 'N Sync are no match for the cute one and his three former band mates who are enjoying a raging success with the release of One, a compilation of all the Beatles' number one songs on a single CD, which is outselling discs by current acts by more than double. Meanwhile, The Beatles Anthology, a pictorial history of the Fab Four by the existing members, remains number one on the nonfiction best sellers list despite a $60 price tag. Let it be? Apparently not.
