HarperCollins Acquires Ecco Press

The consolidation of publishing continues. HarperCollins has announced it has purchased the Ecco Press for an undisclosed sum. Poet Daniel Halpern, who founded Ecco in 1971, has been named editorial director for the new imprint created by the acquisition , which becomes effective July 1. In addition to helming the Ecco imprint, Halpern will oversee HarperCollins's entire adult trade operation.
