Spielberg To Produce Wells's 'The Time Machine'

Staff -- Library Journal, 2/12/1999

Vintage science fiction apparently is a hot commodity in Hollywood. LJDigital recently reported (December 28) that Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth was being produced as a four-hour miniseries for the USA Network. Word now comes that none other than Steven Spielberg will produce a new version of H.G. Wells's The Time Machine. Spielberg's DreamWorks production company will join forces with Warner Brothers to jointly fund and distribute the film, which will hit theaters in the summer of 2000.
