More Authors Headline Book Expo America
Staff -- Library Journal, 2/9/1998
The organizers of America's premier publishing confab, Book Expo America (formerly ABA), are bringing back such popular events as sit-down author breakfasts and interspersing even more writer-centered affairs at this year's industry get together. Tom Wolfe and Farrar, Strauss & Giroux will host an opening night reception on Friday May 29th, and a "Meet the Writers" luncheon on Monday June 1st will allow conventioneers to mingle with some of their favorite authors. Widespread praise of last year's convention in Chicago has tempted back virtually every publisher that had withdrawn from participation in past years, though some are still promising a scaled-back presence. Add to this line-up the new emphasis on writers, expanded and improved hotel and transportation, and more conference sessions on topics such as genre publishing and BEA '98 is shaping up to be better than last year.
