Standing Orders Are Standard Practice

Staff -- Library Journal, 1/5/1998

The largest single national study of book acquisitions practices in libraries, conducted by LJ this fall, found that 87 percent of all public library respondents had signed up for standing order and continuation plans with vendors and that nearly half (47 percent) took part in automatic shipment programs. Moreover, an average of 15 percent of book budgets were allocated to standing orders. A full analysis of the study will be published in LJ's February 15th Spring Announcements Issue.
