Vikram Seth Signs with Broadway Books

Staff -- Library Journal, 1/5/1998

Broadway Books has acquired the U.S. publication rights for Vikram Seth's next novel, An Equal Music, for release in 1999. The new title will be the first from the Hindu author since his popular 1993 novel A Suitable Boy, which was dubbed "old-fashioned storytelling at its best" by LJ's reviewer (LJ 4/15/93). Set in Europe, the new book follows the relationship between two young musicians. Seth promises that his new novel will be shorter than A Suitable Boy, which at 1,349 pages has the distinction of being the longest single-volume novel in the English language.
